Unlocking the potential of a games generation

Digital football generation

On 7th March the Hub hosted a CPD event care of Surrey County FA. The demonstration was led by FA Affiliate tutor Amy Price, assisted by Chloe Longdon and centred around ‘Unlocking the potential of a games generation,’ The Mission: to become the first team to score the most spectacular goal.

Approximately 25 Coaches from the county attended, with the classroom learning being conducted in the marvellous pavilion before venturing outside for the practical session. The U13 Panthers who have had a great season so far and are within touching distance of the SYL Elite Division, were the lucky team to be asked to take part in the session.

The practical was aimed at using computer game logical thinking to gain “power ups” to progress through the levels and ultimately win the game. In an age where too many children spend countless hours in front of electronic devices, it was a very interesting spin, to use that mindset within a physical activity.

The watching coaches complimented the skill level of the players, and also the fantastic facilities. The Panthers thoroughly enjoyed the session, and watching manager Neil Foxhall, took away some useful insights to reuse in further training sessions.

We would like to thank Surrey FA for electing to use the Elmbridge Xcel Hub for this CPD session, and Walton Casuals Juniors FC
