Walton Casuals Lions U11s 3 – 2 Reigate Priory Youth Hawks U11

Team: Jack (GK), Hayden, Josh, Lewis, Jack, Yash, Ollie, Alex, Harrison, Lucas, George

A first win at the new Hub for the U11 Lions after a closely fought contest with Reigate Priory Hawks. Casuals picked up where they left off last week, defending strongly and showing some excellent passing and movement up front. The Lions took the lead after 10 minutes, Josh making a nuisance of himself in the box, forcing a Reigate defender to put the ball into his own net. That lead was doubled 5 minutes later, George giving the keeper no chance with a 20 yard piledriver. 2-0 to Casuals at half time.

The second half saw Reigate start to come back into the match a little more, with the defence of Hayden, Lucas, Ollie and Jack in goal seeing much more of the ball. However the Lions continued to look dangerous on the break and almost extended their lead after some superb work (including a nutmeg!) from Jack H down the left, the final ball just missing the incoming Harrison. Shortly after however, Alex made it 3-0 with another rocket from the edge of the area.

Credit to Reigate whose heads never dropped, and they deservedly pulled a goal back after a great save from Jack landed at the feet of their centre forward. Casuals responded well, with a great Yash effort being ruled out for offside, before Reigate ensured a nervy ending by scoring their second 5 minutes from time.

A strong performance from the Lions, who are starting to look fitter and stronger as we move into October’s games.

Man of the match went to Yash for a strong display in midfield.
