The U9 Juniors, guided by ex-Chairman of the Juniors, Graeme Allen, showed great teamwork and stamina this Saturday (24th) to bring home their first silverware of the season.

The inaugural, invitation only, American Community School event, gave the Juniors an opportunity to go up against a mixture of both school and club teams in the U9 & U10 age groups.

The boys, typically, stepped up to the challenge of playing teams in the year above them with gusto, and after a lot of match time, ended their 8 qualifying games with an impressive 5 wins – including 20 goals and a total of 19 points out of a possible 24!

After final standings were calculated, the boys faced yet another U10 team to decide 3rd and 4th place winners. A final well matched game, which looked certain to go to penalties, saw a last minute free kick from just inside their own half secure a victory for the Juniors and make them the highest placed U9 team in the festival.

If that wasn’t enough, Arsenal goalkeeper, Petr Cech, was on hand to present the boys with their trophy, as well as sign plenty of goalie gloves, boot bags and water bottles!
